Every Wedding's Got to Have a Theme, Right?

NOT! But a nice little motif for cohesion and artistic sensibility would be nice. I've considered several options and keep adding gorgeous color combinations to my little (read: stuffed to the gills) notebook of magazine clippings. There are so many things to think about regarding color choice, but I can't seem to decide on just one! Part of my indecisiveness is due to the fact that I want to share this decision with FH, whoever he may be, but it is also because each theme and color scheme is so unique and so pretty!

1. The chocolate brown, champagne, ivory theme. These colors are so warm and make me want to drink some hot cider wrapped in a fuzzy down quilt while munching on Hershey's kisses. With candlelight, warm soup passed as an appetizer, mashed potatoes, and a sumptuous chocolate cake to top it all off, I would love to have a wedding that makes each guest feel toasty and at home. I've always envisioned a fall wedding, October-December, and I'd just love to have a comfy theme with a casual-yet-classy feel to it. (I found this picture a long time ago and I can't remember where. If it's yours, let me know so I can credit you please!)

2. The super preppy hot pink and lime green is a winner in my book. Granted, tons of brides have chosen these colors and I would not be the only one, but so many beautiful women can't be wrong! These light spring colors would certainly brighten up a dreary autumn evening. Hot pink, though not neon, is my favorite color and I have such a lovely, girly vision for the reception decor with this theme. However, I do not really want to subject FH to these colors if he isn't really game. Plus, I look better in jewel tones anyway ;)

3. My newest favorite: black, champagne, gold, and ivory. Pairing these colors with a starry, nighttime motif would give such a sultry feel to a formal, evening affair. Pros: I look great in black, all of the women who I would currently chose to be BMs look gorgeous in black, the dress will be ivory (white is so garish on me), and bringing black into the color scheme would let me play with lighting just a bit more than usual! I would love candlelight at every table, with low-lit chandeliers overhead providing just enough light to create that smooth, dark atmosphere. Black linens with champagne drapes, table runners, or tulle around the chairs would be stellar. My favorite part is that the night-ish theme affords room for an ultra-formal affair. Guests are much more likely to dress up for an event held later in the day. Any color scheme can work for a late-night celebration, but the dark/light contrast of these colors is too perfect to pass up! This inspiration from Erin and Michael's wedding is crystalline and exquisite! (photo: WeddingBee)

Like I said, I have plenty of time to wait, but in the meantime, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for new ideas and fun design elements for any and every type of bash. It's so much fun just to look. Other brides are so creative and fun with their themes: red and aqua, turquoise and chocolate, light pink and baby blue, the list is endless!
